Just hopping on quickly – work is nuts (again) and will be for the next 4 weeks. But I did manage to eek out a vacation before the insanity begins again. Now – I do need to go somewhere other than the beach – and I have plans for late fall (Niagra falls), but this was a quick getaway and my toes need the surf!

This time I did get more sun than rain (helps to not go in hurricane season). But there was some wind which contributed to my friends bad hair day

Well I thought I’d try a Haiku – pretty sure it’s awful 🙂

huddled in the storm
staying small, fighting the cold
outside life is hard

Snice (my term for snow and ice) came to Georgia today and while most folks hit the grocery store for bread and milk, I went for coffee, chocolate and bird seed. The birds (and squirrels) were all over the feeder in the most lousy weather. Everyone trying to get food and trying to stay a bit warm.

Birds were definitely looking for food today as we got some snow and ice here today – more on the way so I’ve stocked up on birdseed – not the great kind – store was closed today. But here are some pictures of nature chillin’ today

Safety first … keeping an eye out for cats

So this two-legged creature is very nice. They put out food for us birds – and nice food too – no shells just seed! but then she will come out with 3 four-footed creatures. I have seen these before and they love to chase us birds. So I have taken to following some safety procedures.

1st this is this little structure that has an opening in it I can hide in. This is very close to the food. So I come out of the tree and hop into this opening and keep an eye out for a while. When it is safe, I swoop in.

then, after I have eaten my fill (or if danger appears), this same structure has a nice bolt hole I can hop into where the four-legged ones can’t get at me.
