Twas the night before Christmas
And all through the house
The dust bunnies are running
faster than the mouse…
The children were nestled
All snug in Mom’s bed
Barely leaving enough space
For Mom to lay down her sweet head
Out in the den, there arose such a clatter
I sprang from the bed, to see what was the matter
Stubbing my toe, I ran in a dash
Turned on the lights to see the tree crash
Tree flocking scattered, like new fallen snow
Covering the shattered ornaments shining below
When what to my wondering eyes should appear
Two confused cats saying, “Mom – what are you doing here?”
As I hurry to clean up their Christmas eve mess
I paws to reflect on how much I’ve been blessed
I have a roof over my head and food in my belly
And yes it does jiggle like a bowl full of jelly
I’m safe and warm
If just for tonight
Merry Christmas Eve to all
And to all a good night.
