Migrating Plane

Image

OK, so yesterday (Thursday) I had bupkus (sp?) except a picture of geese flying in formation and a plane.  So opportunity to practice photo editing with Adobe Photoshop Elements 12.   I finished the 30 day trial and purchased it as it is about the lowest priced, decent photo editor out there.   I am apparently getting obsessed with trying to get bird shots unfortunately being obsessed with something doesn’t make you good at it.

Just Practice

OK, so there is nothing redeeming about this photo – no great subject, no good effects, but I’m taking photos every day!  This time I was attempting to learn more about ISO, Aperature and Shutter speed.   The cat tree looks in good sharp focus, that white blur behind snoopy …. that’s my chewie in mid jump.   I had to start getting back to basics because I’m now that I’m focusing on moving subjects (birds) I’m getting less crisp photos, so will be doing a lot of shooting at different settings the next couple of days.

Chewie – Sun and Shadow

Image

Well it was a busy weekend and work-day, so today I take the easy way out and photograph my prettiest (I know I’m not supposed to have favorites … but I have a smartest; a prettiest and a hunter) cat.  Have Chewie in the sun with some shadows, I’ve done some contrast on the photos, and have also applied a title (softening the focus around a specific point) on two of them.   I really can’t go wrong with pics of this pretty boy!

Red Wing Black

So, still no luck on the flying bird although my canon did much better and I’m almost there (might post it another day), BUT had much better luck with birds that weren’t in flight.  Still not awesomely in focus – but I attempted to use the tracking focus and I think because I did the pictures came out better than they would have.  The 1st three in the series are of a (I think) red winged black bird and there was always motion because he was perched on a reed on a windy day.   I put this in the order I did because

– the 1st one looks like he’s getting ready, taking a deep breath and I like that with his eyes shut it almost looks like he doesn’t have a face

– the 2nd one is him calling and showing off (he did this repeatedly so I think he just realized he’s late for Valentines day and doesn’t have a date

– the 3rd one I like to think is him taking a bow

the next two are just a couple of other friends that took time to pose.
